Why Your Boots Might Look Slightly Different Than the Photo
We shoot every product photo on our boots ourselves — no stock images, no manufacturer catalog shots. When you see a pair on rushingboots.com, that's the actual boot, photographed by us, so what you see is a real, honest representation of what we're selling.
That said, we want to be upfront about something: even with our own photography, the boot that arrives at your door may look slightly different from the photo on the page. Here's why, and why that's normal.
Lighting changes how leather and color read
Leather is a natural material, and it reacts to light differently than synthetic materials do. The same boot photographed in soft afternoon light versus bright studio light can show noticeably different tones — a rich cognac brown might look lighter or more golden depending on how the light hits it. Screens vary too; the same photo can look slightly different on a phone versus a laptop versus a tablet. We calibrate our photos as best we can, but some variation between what you see on screen and the boot in hand is unavoidable.
No two boots are perfectly identical
Especially with genuine leather goods, some variation from pair to pair is normal and expected — not a defect. Grain patterns, natural markings, and slight shade differences are part of what makes leather leather. The exact pair we photographed may have subtle characteristics — a slightly different grain, a touch more or less patina — than the pair that ships to you, even though both are the same style, size, and quality.
What this means for you
If your boots arrive looking a little different in tone or texture than the website photo, that's expected variation, not a mistake. We photograph honestly and don't retouch to hide the natural character of the leather. If you ever receive something that seems genuinely off from the listing — wrong color, wrong style, or a real quality issue — reach out and we'll make it right.
Our goal is simple: show you the real product, set honest expectations, and stand behind what we sell.
